Get to know the Director Alexandra Castillo

Alexandra is a writer, director, and filmmaker with an emphasis on character interpersonal conflicts and fantastical elements in her narratives. Alexandra was born and raised in Southern San Diego, and stayed to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts: Media at the University of California: San Diego. Through her education, Alexandra directed two major short films: A Pebble from Far, Far Away (2022), and Mi Media Naranja (2024). Both narratives focus on themes of anxiety and mental illness, interpersonal conflicts between loved ones, and make use of fantasy and or magical realism.
