Get to know the Director Duy Do
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Đỗ Duy (he/him) is a first-generation Vietnamese-American filmmaker. He is the co-head of MINECO PICTURES, where he frequently collaborates with fellow filmmaker and cinematographer Jordan Pringle.
Đỗ is studying for his MFA at San Diego State University, majoring in Television, Film, and New Media with an emphasis in production, where he previously completed his undergraduate degree in 2025. For his latest film, Gà Lavabo: Tết 1969, Đỗ won the Best Production Design Award at the SDSU Emerging Filmmakers’ Showcase. Đỗ has also earned the Outstanding Student Graduate Award for the School of Television, Theatre, and Film in 2025.
Inspired by his cultural identity and family history of resilience and humanity, Đỗ wishes to share his unique worldview in his stories. He is determined to uplift his people into the pantheon of cinema and create stories bridging the films of East and West.
