Reflection is an uplifting and empowering documentary that explores the teen girl’s struggle with feeling insecure in her own body. Told through a poetic narrative as well as three real life interviews, this documentary reflects the hardships of feeling insecure about one’s own appearance as well as the journey to self love that every girl experiences growing up.

 

Get to know the Directors Emma Lamoureux, Brooklin Lee Kwai and Maya Grover

Emma Lamoureux – Emma Lamoureux is a student filmmaker, director, and cinematographer based in San Diego. With five years of experience, she has worked on a range of projects including narrative films, documentaries, and commercial productions. Some of her most notable, Monster in the Closet and Reflection, have been selected for multiple film festivals, including the All American High School Film Festival, where her documentary earned an award nomination. Through her storytelling, Emma explores themes of identity, insecurity, and the bittersweet transition from childhood to adolescence. She strives to create visually compelling films that resonate emotionally and help audiences feel seen and understood.

Maya Gover – Maya Grover is a creative soul with a passion for crafting stories that feel real, raw, and relatable. Driven by artistry and empathy, she uses her imagination and eye for detail to turn everyday emotions into powerful visuals. Her latest documentary shines a light on the unfiltered struggles of teenage girls, capturing both the chaos and beauty of growing up. Through her work, Maya aims to connect hearts and minds—to make people feel seen, heard, and understood. Whether behind a camera or sketching new ideas, she lives for the moments when a story on screen truly resonates.
Brooklin Lee Kwai – Brooklin Lee Kwai is a 17-year-old, independent, student filmmaker. She started as an actor and continues to perform but her real love for filmmaking lies in directing and producing. She started making films when she was 13 years old and her creativity has only grown since. She mostly specializes in narrative filmmaking but alongside that she is a videographer for hire through her own film business. She attends Canyon Crest Academy where she is a part of the Envision Cinema Conservatory. Previous works include: “why am i like this”, “I Built A Friend”, “Reflection”, and “Sonorous”.
