What’s Up, Guys!

What’s Up, Guys!

Directed by Maci Kostanyan

Two YouTubers and their hesitant cameraman investigate a viral murder, only to discover some slicks come at a deadly cost.

Director Statement

This film was born out of my (and co-writer Ariana’s) fascination and unease with how social media shapes the way we see each other and ourselves. In a culture where tragedy can be packaged as content and attention feels like currency, I wanted to explore what happens when the hunger for virality goes too far. Horror and comedy felt like the perfect pairing: horror to reflect the darker truths of our stuck-to-our-phones age, and comedy to give audiences enough distance to recognize themselves within it.

Equally important to me is who is behind the camera. Uplifting women’s voices in film is very important to me. Our core team is entirely women, and about 85% of our crew are women as well. Creating space for women to lead, collaborate, and tell stories together has been as vital to this project as the film itself.

With this film, I want to both entertain and provoke reflection. I want to make audiences laugh, recoil, and ultimately question how social media culture influences not just what we consume, but who we become.
