Director Statement

When approaching Nondecomposable, I wanted to make something where the horror wasn’t just a jump scare, but rather something that lingers a bit longer, feels a little more unshakeable (much like the plastic pollution I hope to bring awareness to). I’ve always been a fan of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, specifically in how their endings were at times unsatisfactory, and made the episodes timeless in that they always replayed in my head. I hope that Nondecomposable is, in its five minute run time, able to evoke the same sense of unease and weasel itself into the the forefront of the viewer’s memory as they walk away, as I believe that this is the feeling that people should also have about the plastic crisis.

Director Biography

Tobin Carter is an international award winning writer, director, and producer from San Diego, California. A recent graduate from the University of California, Berkeley, Tobin’s work focuses on shedding light on topics that have affected his life. His previous works — Real Mother and Alone Together — worked to shine a light on adoption and toxic relationships respectively, and have both been screened at festivals around the world! It is his hope that he can use this platform with Nondecomposable, to raise awareness about microplastics and the long lasting effects of them.
