Six months after the loss of Quinn’s childhood best friend Alex, Quinn returns home from college for the holidays. However, at a party, he meets a girl who could pass as Alex’s doppelgänger, forcing Quinn to confront his unchecked grief.

Director Statement

I have always felt many emotions towards Christmas and the Holidays. It is in many ways my favorite time of year — whilst at the same time also dragging me into a melancholy as I remember years gone by, and those I can no longer celebrate with. For One Night Only was in many ways a catharsis for me to make, and it’s my hope that the film finds its way to those who struggle during the holidays, and serves as a reminder that they aren’t alone.

Director Biography

Tobin Carter is an international award winning writer, director, and producer from San Diego, California. A recent graduate from the University of California, Berkeley, Tobin’s work focuses on shedding light on topics that have affected his life. His previous works — Real Mother and Alone Together — worked to shine a light on adoption and toxic relationships respectively, and have both been screened at festivals around the world! In For One Night Only, Tobin hopes to explore the emotions the Holidays can bring up, and how just because everything is soaked in lights, doesn’t mean your emotions have to be pushed down.
