Director Statement

“Conflict” is a poignant drama and action short film that delves into the harsh realities of unemployment and the impact it can have on a society. As the protagonist faces the loss of his job and the inability to provide for his growing family, the narrative takes a heartbreaking turn.
A rash decision is made to terminate a pregnancy due to financial constraints. This difficult choice leads to a profound argument between the protagonist and his wife, during which their daughter ventures outside to escape the fighting. At this vulnerable moment, she is kidnapped. The narrative unfolds with intense action as the protagonist, driven by desperation and grief, abandons his fragile wife to pursue the dangerous kidnappers and rescue their daughter.
In a poignant and heart-wrenching moment, as they journey home, the protagonist shares his deep love for his daughter, expressing regret for the choices he has made. However, the narrative twists further as the daughter tragically succumbs to the drugs in her body, administered earlier by the kidnappers..
Arriving home with his lifeless daughter, the protagonist faces an emotionally charged reunion with his wife, and reveals his desire for her to keep their unborn child. He is met with the shocking revelation that she had a miscarriage during his stressful absence to recover their eldest child

Director Biography

Krstover Luaay, Independent filmmaker dedicated to creating films that inspire change. With over eight in the film industry, I have written, directed, and produced eight short films. I am currently focused on my most impactful project yet “Conflict” a film that reflects my vision of using cinema as a force to challenge perspectives and create meaningful frames.
