Nick’s world unravels when his wife Grace vanishes, leaving behind only fragments of memory and a recurring nightmare that blurs the boundaries between sleep and waking. Each night, he finds her standing beneath a streetlight, her face hidden behind a grotesque clown mask that seems to shift and breathe with malevolent life. Desperate for answers and drowning in gambling debts, Nick turns to a late-night podcast, hoping to monetize his terror. But the hosts of “San Diego After Dark” know more than they should—about Grace’s disappearance, about Nick’s debts, and about the terrible truth lurking behind the painted smile. As reality fractures and reforms with each awakening, Nick must confront the possibility that some nightmares aren’t meant to end, and some masks can never be removed.
