Marcus’ father is sick in bed and is unable to meet with Samael to uphold their yearly agreement. Marcus’ father Jeffrey Crowe, calls upon Marcus to carry out this task, not telling him the true motive behind it. Marcus takes the suspicious bag to the abandoned parking garage, and he meets Samael. What starts as a normal interaction quickly turns into something else as Samael reveals who he truly is and turns Marcus’ world upside down. His father made a deal with the Devil, in exchange for seven souls every year his dad keeps his riches and power. This year due to the illness, he was unable to procure the seventh soul, so he sent his least favorite son. The Devil toys with Marcus, making his last moments of freedom terrifying, teaching him the reality of the world he lives in. The Devil takes him, Marcus’ father’s debt is paid. Final shot being of his father, the Devil isn’t the true monster, it’s his father
Alex Bindschadler is a 19 year old filmmaker based in San Diego. He grew up in Seattle Washington and moved to San Diego to study film at SDSU. While he has made a couple short films in his past, shooting them on a phone and featuring friends and family, “It’s Just Business” is his debut film working in a professional setting. Alex is drawn to stories structured to symbolize issues in our world. He loves the idea of creating an entertaining spectacle that simultaneously examines the deepest flaws of humanity.
