OUTLAST
Directed by Connor Nagel
Along the border of California and Arizona, two outlaws from rival gangs, Justice Clemmons and Debb Doolin, wake up amidst signs of a shootout, the sole survivors of a wagon robbery massacre. Tensions rise as they confront each other and grapple over the loot. Debb ties up Justice, but they ultimately decide to work together to survive the threat of a mysterious beast, The Wendigo, which is revealed to be responsible for the carnage from the night before. As they traverse the harsh terrain, their past grievances and motivations are revealed. Justice admits guilt for betraying Debb and her brother, leading to a deeper understanding between them. However, Justice begins to experience hallucinations, hinting at a darker fate. Taking advantage of a moment of weakness, Justice overpowers Debb and sacrifices himself in a showdown with The Wendigo, using dynamite to vanquish it. Debb, now alone with the money, sets off into an uncertain future, hoping for a fresh start.
Connor Nagel is the writer and director of Outlast, and he is extremely excited and humbled to make his narrative directorial debut with this film. Although he was actually more interested in becoming an actor growing up, as he grew older he began watching more and more films with his Dad, inspired by the works of Quentin Tarantino and Steven Spielberg, his passions shifted to behind the camera, hoping to one day be able to become a full-time storyteller. With this opportunity, Connor is ready to apply all he has learned in the past decade about filmmaking to tell a story that is truly personal and important to him.
