Our Story
Since 2017, Film Week is a countywide celebration that showcases, celebrates and grows our local film industry by promoting the diverse filmmakers, actors, film festivals, production companies, studios, schools, artists and creatives that make up the local community.
After many years of producing weekend festivals and hosting the San Diego Film Awards, Film Consortium started receiving hundreds of films each year and decided to step it up. Inspired by “San Diego Beer Week”, San Diego Film Week was born as a space to showcase and celebrate many talented filmmakers as well as other local organizations.
We’ve adapted and overcome the challenges of COVID-19, emerging stronger than ever. Films will continue to be presented in unique and innovative ways including broadcast on KPBS, screened at our San Diego Film Week, and streamed on our Film Consortium TV channel.
Every year you can attend a live screening, or event, participate in virtual workshops and programs, watch films on your computer from our streaming channel, or turn on your TV and enjoy programs on KPBS from the comfort of your own couch.
