  • Stop Making Excuses and Start Making a Feature Film!

    Film Market Panels / Panel

    It's time to make a feature film and you are NOT on your own. This panel will be a crash course in the DO'S and DON'TS Our panelists will talk to you about their experiences making feature films and their lessons learned along the way. This all-star panel includes Chris Cashman (A Life Lived, Club Frontera) Ron Najor (Short Term 12, I Am Not a Hipster), Laurence Roeck (Diablo) and more panelists TBD.

  • The Shot That Makes the Film- Cinematography Workshop

    In every film production there comes a frame or two that tells the director, "We've got a movie!". Award winning cinematographer Bill Bork ( Amalgamated Grommets) will share some of his favorite clips from his award winning films and commercials as he takes us behind the scenes. Observe the tough decision-making process a veteran cinematographer working with a Director must make to advance the storyline. Learn the balance between getting a great shot and getting the right shot.

    Cedric is happy to finally get a match in the new augmented reality dating app Real Connection. Unfortunately his wittiness and writing skills are not enough to get his match interested. That’s not to account for a particular features his buddy Elan calls his attention on: Auto-Chat. Within minutes of the app algorithm taking over, he has a date set-up with a beautiful young lady: Andra.

  • TRUE SD Screenings- The Realist Tendency – Shorts Program

    True SD Screenings and The Realist Tendency / 180 mins

    This block showcases films based on true stories. Each film was adapted from a story provided by So Say We All- a writer’s group in San diego who tell compelling stories about real life events. Several of the films in this program were produced through the True San Diego Film Consortium Competition- a competition where teams had 60 days to adapt a true story and produce the film. Several shorts were also produced through the Film Consortium’s “Make a Short Film on a Low (or no!) Budget” Workshop and are also adaptations of So Say We All stories.

  • Realistically Speaking – Shorts Program

    Italian Neo-realism, French New Wave- these film movements changed the future of film and were beyond influential on modern filmmaking. San Diego Film Week founder, Jodi Cilley, is heavily inspired by these and other realism movements. She created this block to highlight and celebrate the filmmakers in our community who are producing films that emphasize the real and dynamic ways we interact as humans. This block will make you laugh, make you cry, but most of all make you FEEL what it’s like to be in someone else’s shoes. Featuring Jeff Man, Ryan Cassalman, Benjamin Howard, Shaan Couture, and Tyler J. Oakley.
